Miscellaneous Insurance Programs
Basic Term Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance
Each eligible employee is covered for $50,000 at no cost, with an additional benefit for accidental death and dismemberment.
Optional Life
Optional life is a voluntary program that allows you to purchase life insurance in addition to the basic life provided by the Corporation ($50,000) for yourself, spouse and/or dependents. For more information, please visit or contact the Corporation's Human Resources Office.
Long-Term Disability Insurance
This plan provides partial income replacement benefits for disability resulting from injury or illness sustained on or off the job, following 180 days of disability. LTD benefits are coordinated with other benefits plan payments up to age 65. Coverage is automatic and provided at no cost to eligible employees.
Unemployment Insurance
Unemployment insurance provides a weekly income to employees who are out of work through no fault of their own. If you become unemployed, contact the nearest Employment Development Department for eligibility and claim filing information.
Flexible Spending Accounts
University Corporation offers a Section 125 flexible spending plan. With this program you may pay for certain medical and dependent care expenses with pre-tax dollars that have been set aside from your paycheck. You may participate in either or both medical and dependent care expense programs, but money cannot be "transferred" from one to the other.
Supplemental Insurance
American Family Life Assurance Company of Columbus (AFLAC) - is a voluntary supplemental insurance providing cash benefits paid directly to you for medical bills incurred as a result of illness or disability, not covered by health insurance. There are several plan options with pre-tax and after-tax premium deductions. Employee is responsible for 100% of the premiums. For more information, please contact Corporation Human Resources.
